The trainings will include the warning signs and effects of teen dating violence, as well as approaches adults can use to talk to teens about relationship violence.

  • Physical aggression occurs in 1 in 3 teen dating relationships
  • 40% of abusive incidents occur on school grounds
  • Relationship violence has been consistently associated with other serious high-risk behaviors, such as alcohol and drug abuse, eating disorders, depression, poor school performance, risky sexual behavior, and suicidal behavior

Women Against Abuse Teen Outreach

1,600 students received training from Women Against Abuse in 2009 through presentations for students grades 5-12, workshops at local colleges, and the Students Talking About Relationships (STAR) program, which consists of 10-week courses that teach middle and high school students about dating violence and healthy relationships.
